The ISPRS SC Webinar Series
ISPRS WG III/3 (Active Microwave Remote Sensing) Webinar Series
by Dr Motoyuki Sato
This webinar series is organised by the ISPRS WG III/3 (Active Microwave Remote Sensing) with the technical support of the ISPRS Student Consortium (ISPRS SC).
Date: 14 May, 2025
Time: 12:00 - 13:00 (GMT+0)
Title: Ground Penetrating Radar- Data acquisition and signal processing
Speaker: Motoyuki Sato, Tohoku University, Japan
Moderator: Prof Junichi Susaki
Abstract:
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a technique of imaging subsurface objects by using electromagnetic wave reflection. The principle is the same as other microwave remote sensing techniques, and the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) processing is used for image reconstruction. I this Webinar, we will learn fundamental physics related to GPR data acquisition, including radar hardware, and signal processing of GPR signal. As an example of GPR applications, we will show landmine detection and demonstrate how GPR is working in mine affected countries including Cambodia and Ukraine.
