ISPRS SC China - Brazil UDESC Chapter
The student chapter was founded in 2025 at Santa Catarina State University (UDESC), in the Forestry Engineering Department, with the aim of integrating Geosciences into the Forestry, Agricultural and Environmental Sector through the use of geotechnologies. Inspired by the mission of ISPRS, the chapter seeks to connect students and young researchers, encouraging the application of remote sensing, photogrammetry and geoinformation for sustainable management and environmental conservation.
Our main objectives include disseminating knowledge about GIS tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS and Python, promoting the academic and professional development of participants. We also aim to create a network of contacts between students, teachers and professionals in the sector, fostering collaboration and new opportunities.
The planned activities include lectures, technical workshops and events aimed at sharing experiences and training. In addition, we intend to develop practical projects using spatial data applied to forestry, agricultural and environmental monitoring. Scientific production will be encouraged through the preparation of articles and reports for ISPRS publications.
The chapter also aims to connect students with experienced professionals and establish partnerships with other ISPRS chapters and national and international laboratories for collaborative projects.
With this initiative, the chapter is consolidating itself as a space for learning and innovation, promoting the advancement of geotechnologies in the forestry sector and contributing to the training of professionals who are better prepared for the environmental challenges of the future.
